We picked up, what should be our last necessary appliance today; a new but slightly scarred upright freezer, from a shady, stocked-to-the-ceiling warehouse near the industrial district of North Hamilton. As Ellen and I hefted it off the back of her pick-up we noticed it had more scratches than the proposed Hamilton stadium site.
I started to giggle a bit, thinking about the monster industrial fridge we had delivered the other day - used and cheap because it's dented...
And the dishwasher - free from a neighbour, pulled out for a renovation...
And the wire shelving - free from a friend who moved and has no space for it...
And the microwave - also free from a neighbour with a 'microwave surplus'...
I wonder how successful our business might be if we had named it 'Scratch & Dent Catering'?
